Is there any way to recognize counterfeit cells or packs?
Fake Panasonic is rampant even on Amazon ! These “Panasonic” packs, with Chinese writing, and “Panasonic” name on cells have been confirmed by Panasonic engineers….as complete fakes ! Also beware of packs even if Panasonic name is off..but still have the Chinese writing.
In addition, Saft, FDK, Maxell and Toshiba are all being faked. It’s so bad that damage to equipment and even life threatening incidents have occurred…because of fake batteries.
Are these Isolated incidents... or is this widespread?
A simple Google search answers that question ! And even those packs that aren’t falsely claiming to be
Panasonic…do not have internal protection (diodes, thermal cut off and PTC devices) which many Original Manufacturers build into their packs. Needless to say…LCPLC packs include all those.
Also, look at some of the names of these companies. Have they been in batteries for decades…or just started out? Do they have a longstanding reputation..or are they just throwing up junk on the internet to sell…but don’t know anything about batteries ??
